We’re having a contest to find a cover photo for the 2012 TGE Directory, which will be published in April 2012. The first-place contest winner will receive a gift certificate for two to a restaurant that advertises in the directory, along with a 24X36″ unframed poster of the winning photo. Healthy Corner Store Project Looking For Nominations

The St. Louis Healthy Corner Store Project is accepting nominations for the 2012 program year. Nominations will be accepted from City of St. Louis aldermen, neighborhood stabilization officers, nonprofit staff and community leaders. The nomination process requires the identification of both a neighborhood corner store and a community group. Through our pilot project, we found that community leadership and support of the corner store owner play a vital role in the success of the program. Arrests Made At Old YMCA Because Of Neighbor Involvement

This morning Officer Joe Calabro,Sr, Community Outreach Officer, District 3, asked me to pass along this information concerning the old South Grand YMCA. Officer Calabro said that several arrest were made relative to the thefts of copper and break-ins at the YMCA. He said he wanted to thank those citizens, whose diligence paid off, making the police aware of the thefts and burglaries at the YMCA, which ultimately lead to the arrest this morning. Dogs Need Temporary Homes – Stray Rescue Is Undergoing Renovations

Stray Rescue’s shelter on 18th Street in Lafayette Square is currently undergoing renovations, and the dogs there must be temporarily evacuated, so they are in urgent need for people willing to take a dog (or two) into their home for a few days. The dogs will need to be picked up from the shelter on Sunday 12/4 by 5:00 p.m. and returned on Friday 12/9 by 5:00 p.m. P Please contact marianne@strayrescue.org as soon as possible if you can help.
