Does seeing a dog chained out in a yard upset you? Have you ever wanted to chain yourself to a doghouse for a great cause? Even if you haven’t here’s your chance to join me in raising money and awareness of the evils of dog chaining. Join us in participating in Dogs Deserve Better Chain-Off 2010 event. Chain-Off is an international event but as of this moment we have the only St. Louis area site.

Saturday June 26th from 8 AM to 8 PM some of us will be taking turns being chained to a large dog crate in front of Mama Josephine’s Restaurant at 4000 Shaw here in St. Louis. I would love to sit there for the 12 hours all by myself but realized physically that wasn’t happening. So what about a team of people who could share the time, 1 or 2 hours each? That’s where you and anyone else who is interested in participating comes in.

If you want to take a sit for chained dogs, let me know and you tell me which hour or 2 you want. Let’s fill up the 12 hour stretch. I’ll register us with Dogs Deserve Better and several of us will contact the local media. Other people will be able to pledge their donations on the DDB site or directly at FirstGiving. Then show up at Mama Josephine’s on the 26th and be ready to show your support for unchaining dogs in a very physical way — by sitting on the concrete or, if that doesn’t work for you physically, by sitting down with no books, no hats, nothing a chained dog would have.

If you can’t join us, please consider visiting the pledge site. And you can always come by and bring your lucky unchained dogs.

I’ve attached some information about Chain-Off 2010 below.

Please feel free to share this invitation with anyone you think might be interested. So please feel free to send it on to any list serves, blogs, or even just personal lists of people who care about animals.

Best barks!
