The South Grand Community Improvement District (SGCID) will host a ribbon cutting of its new public parking lot on Thursday, March 24, 2011 at 10AM. South Grand will be one of the few business districts to provide free public parking.

The lot, located at 3500 Hartford, will have 95 parking spaces, ample lighting and fencing. It also doubles as a multi-use lot, with services built into the lot for the possibility of events.

“We are very excited to finally open this lot,” says Rachel Witt, Executive Director for the SGCID. “It will be a great addition to our ongoing Great Streets Project.”

The parking lot construction and Great Streets Project are both major neighborhood improvements to increase pedestrian accessibility and aesthetic quality of the South Grand Business District.

The lot, purchased by the SGCID in January 2010 with a loan from IFF, and was designed by M&H Architects, and built by Kenrick Construction.
The South Grand Parking Lot has been made possible with $100,000 in stimulus funding assistance, received from the Community Development Administration, through the Community Development Block Grant funding (CDBG) as well as facade assistance from Alderman Conway and St. Louis Development Corporation.
