The St.. Elizabeth Softball team concluded their season last Thursday.  Falling to DuBourg in the district semi-final round.  The Hawks won the most games of any SEA team this century. Their 14-5 win-loss record topped the 2001 and 2002 teams’ 13 wins.  They were also never ranked before and on September 12 the Hawks were ranked on the bubble by stlhighschoolsports.com. On September 19, after stringing together 8 straight wins they achieved the #8 position in the polls.  SEA went 2-2  in our next 4 games and moved up to #6. This is where we will stay until the 2013 season begins.  The season started off with a 1st place finish in the Metro tournament where we compiled a 4-1 record to take home the plaque.  A come from behind victory at #8th ranked Clayton propelled the team into the rankings and 7 straight victories after that kept us moving in the right direction.  The St. Louis Review did a story on the team (link below).  We said goodbye to 3 seniors, Katie MacEnulty a pitcher who amassed 11 victories, Rachel Bianchi who played outfield the last 2 years and Jen Strebeck our captain and 4 year starting shortstop.

The future is bright for the team.  We are returning 8 players and many of them were in critical positions and 6 of our top 7 batters will be with us for at least 2 more years.  This was truly a team effort and we were blessed to have coached these girls!

Sincerely,
