Construction started in early October for the next phase of redevelopment at South Grand and Gravois. Renovation to the historic Farmers & Merchant and Lutz Buildings, located across from South Side Tower (formerly the Southside National Bank Building) is expected to be complete next spring. The new development, called Southside Station Apartments, will contain 39 affordable studio and one-bedroom apartments with some street-level retail. Owner Lawrence Group also provided development, design and construction management for the project. Project funding includes federal and state tax credits, HOME funds administered by the Missouri Housing Development Commission, 10-year tax abatement and multifamily evenue housing bonds and an affordable housing commission loan from the City of St. Louis. People’s National Bank, Lisart Capital, and St. Louis Equity Fund are also participating in the financing of the project.
